This past Saturday witnessed the debut of our speaker series for 2018, via David Mowery’s excellent presentation on John Hunt (or John H., if you prefer) Morgan’s Great Raid of 1863.
It was very enjoyable and informative and those in attendance had a good time. Dave is extremely knowledgeable on the subject, which the talk made clear. The crowd was attentive and asked a lot of good questions after the presentation ended. It was a fun discussion, with some guests telling of their ancestors who had fought at Cynthiana.
A total of 50 people attended the talk, some of them traveling quite far to be there, and the theater at Roh’s Opera House proved to be a great place to have such an event.
The foundation gained a few new members and sold some merchandise, resulting in a good fund-raising day. Events like this will be important to us as we grow into the future while looking at the past.
We thank all of you who came and look forward to seeing you at our next talk on May 12, when Dr. Lindsey Apple will be the featured speaker. He will discuss Richard M. Gano, a native Kentuckian who moved to Texas before the Civil War and then led a group of Texans at the First Battle of Cynthiana.
Tell your friends and family and bring them out to see another fun presentation.
